Maybelline City Heat Lipstick: Thoughts of a Non-Make Up Junkie

I am no stranger to Maybelline City Heat lipsticks. Nonetheless, I never got to try them until now. Instead, I opted for Maybelline’s Creamy Matte as my way of giving the brand’s lipstick line a try.

Three years ago, I purchased one of the Creamy Matte’s their varieties. While I liked its color, degree of moisturization, and ease of application, it didn’t really strike me as a one-of-a-kind lippie.

Because of this, I became curious on what the Maybelline City Heat lipstick line has in store for everyone.

According to the Try and Review website:

Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks, Maybelline’s most moisturizing matte lipstick, now available in 6 warm, trendy nudes inspired by NYC’s colors. These 6 warm shades are flattering to Filipinas.

Is Maybelline City Heat Lipstick worth it?

I got this product for review and for free from the Try and Review website. In turn, I am bound to accomplish a mission: to give my honest and objective review.

So, is this the real deal? I tried and tested it for two days, under the most extreme conditions I could possibly come up within such time.

And here are my thoughts:

I chose the Maybelline City Heat Lipstick in the Noho Amber color and so far, I’m loving every bit of it!

Maybelline City Heat

I am not the meztiza type. I’m not morena either. My being fair sometimes makes it hard for me to look for the right shade of foundation and even lipsticks.

But this lipstick’s different. It really enhanced my look by blending well with my skin tone. I couldn’t be happier for choosing this shade as it went well with my skin’s yellow undertone.

To know how long the Maybelline City Heat lipstick would stay on my lips, I did two things. First, I ate a lot of greasy food and wore it the entire day. Second, I took a bath and washed my face with this product still on my lips.

In the first test, I’d say most of the product stayed. However, there’s a need to reapply again since your lipstick can be all over the place when you eat fatty food like I did.

On the other hand, with the second test, I found that this product is “semi-water proof”. Your usual bath won’t remove the product unless you scrub it off from your lips. This means, you can wear this lipstick and look fab even when in the swimming pool!

I am not a make up expert. I love anything that’s fast and practical.

So, I am just grateful that applying this product on my lips is a no-brainer. It’s also smooth upon application; no tackiness whatsoever.

Matte effect of the Maybelline City Heat Lippie

Throughout my two days of testing, I found that this lipstick really has the matte effect it claims. The matte effect stays the entire time, unless you eat anything oily in between.

But, it’s a little drying on the lips

The only thing I don’t like about this product is the fact that it’s more drying than the previous Maybelline Creamy Matte lipstick I tried. It doesn’t bother me too much though since the product is lightweight.

Overall, Maybelline City Heat Lipstick is truly made for all!

I was a little hesitant getting this lipstick because it might not match my skin tone and undertone. Even though it came for free (perks of a lipstick reviewer), taking good photos with this lipstick on me was a big deal. This has to look good on me, I thought.

Lo and behold, it did!

Having read some of my fellow Filipinas’ product reviews, I found out that they rocked this lipstick too. It’s just so good to know that this product line tried to be as much inclusive as it could possibly be to reach out to their Asian or Filipino consumers.

Hustle beautifully with Maybelline City Heat Lipstick

With only one minor downside noted, I’m left with no choice but to recommend this lipstick and give it the highest rating in the scale!

This has a place in my “make-me-beautiful-in-a-daily-despite-law-school-toxicity” lipstick collection already.
